First steps to Internet Marketing - Creating a Website.

When you first start building an Internet Marketing business things can become quite overwhelming. There are so many directions that one can take. Yet, unless you have a mentor by your side – you have no clue as to which direction is going to lead you, where you want to go.

Today, I am going to talk to you about having a website to help build your business. All Affiliate Marketing sites give you a website to start you of. However, if you really want to build your business you need to have your own website or blog. From all the reading I have done - its okay to have a free website if you are just looking for a bit of pocket money.

However, if you wish to build a big business; then a free website will be detrimental to your cause and it will end up costing you money by way of lost time and effort. The reason for this is that free sites sometimes just close their doors and then all your effort and content goes to waste. Also, it definitely looks more professional if you have your own domain and your own website.

Basically in the creation of a website there are 6 steps involved.

1. Select a Niche for your blog/website. It helps if you are passionate about something as you can choose to write about this love of yours. You can choose this as the niche that you blog about. Only, do make sure that it is a niche that other people are also fond off, or else your blogs will not be read.

2. Obtain and register a domain name. There are many sites to choose from, just go into the Google browser and type in "domain names" and you will get a whole lot to choose from.

3. Set up an account with with a hosting service. Do the same thing with Google,as you did with Domain names; when searching for a Hosting site and choose the one that suits you the best.

4. Create your professional looking website. You can go to http://www.mybwbsite.com/1032472 for a free and easy website to use (if you wish to go the Free way). Or you can go again to Google and find other websites to work with.

5. Write a few blogs and product reviews to start you off.

5. Add on some Affiliate programs to promote. These allow for building a network which ends up in commissions for you. There are oodles of programs for you to join on the net and new ones being launched each day. My advice would be that you look only for those that are free to join and build, initially, or else you might find yourself completely out-of-pocket in a few months with nothing major to show for it.

I have found that there is so much on the net that is for free, that really, there is no reason to dip into your pocket, till you have really learnt to decipher the legit sites from those that are scams. Of course, free sites will take a while to build and there is work and effort involved - but they will not fold up on you some day as some programs have done even in the last few days.

Once you have set up your website, just keep updating it – don't let it stagnate without new entries. Every time you join a new Affiliate site that looks like it will be profitable, add it onto your site in the form of Text Ads or Banners/Widgets, etc.

Once people like what you say they will keep coming back and will someday click on your links – some may even join you and that is what a website is meant to do. It draws people to itself and encourages them to join you in your endeavours.

In this day and age, of heavy traffic;time constraints due to the nuclear nature of families and work issues – and, with the advent of the internet spewing forth so many online opportunities – more and more people are moving away from conventional jobs and heading towards the luxury of sitting at home and building their own online businesses.

It is not only the elderly or old people who are heading this way. In fact, now more and more young people are giving up conventional 9 to 5 jobs and moving “away from the madding crowd” of traffic out there each morn, opting, instead to spend the day at home with loved ones, while working from home to ensure they are financially solvent. It is the young ones who are most computer-literate these days and they are the ones who are starting this new and fascinating trend.

What do they get out of this? Why do they build businesses from home when they could opt for easier solutions (at least in the beginning). Some of the reasons for this new trend are:

A sense of ownership – The feeling that something belongs totally to you and that you are the boss – there is no one to lord over you and tell you what to do. You can actually sack the boss. What a wonderful feeling that is!

It also, creates a second income (for those who choose to work alongside with working an online business). Who in this day and age can depend totally on one income? Also, this income can be generated by all who live there if they all choose to get involved. An internet business does not care who the operator is – so long as someone does operate it.

It also heralds hope that this is their way on to financial freedom – and that can happen doubly quick if they work a job, alongside with working their businesses from home.

An online business is easy to start, relatively low-cost, barely any overheads and can be worked from anywhere in the world and at any time of day or night that you choose to work it. So it leaves people with more flexibility in their lives. They can be taking cruise, after cruise, - if they wish and yet working from wherever they are. Eventually, also once the business has been put into place and been running efficiently for sometime, it actually, keeps working by itself and leaves one with more time to enjoy as they will.

It also leaves one with a sense of security – knowing that no one can ever fire you or make you redundant. It inculcates in the owner a sense of pride and accomplishment knowin that they have achieved something out of the ordinary.

Online business opportunities!

Globally, the world is in finacial turmoil. So many people have lost their jobs, others have been downsized and had to take pay cuts. And there does not seem to be much more opportunity for getting traditional jobs, so easily anymore.

What is emerging however in this technological revolution that the world is experiencing is the biggest global market for jobs and opportunity to work from home - online.

There are jobs to be had - data entry operators, writers, virtual assistants to name just a few.

There are also many business opportunities being flaunted all over the net. Unfortunately, many of them end up being scams. Many people have ended up loosing a lot of money through these unscrupulous sites which con people out of their money.

However, there are also quite a few business opportunities out there that really deliver what they offer. Affiliate marketing is one such business and I have found that some will promise you things for free but when you go to sign on the dotted line --- so to speak -- the rules change and you get a money back guarantee or some such statement to let you know that you have been conned into wasting a lot of time reading something that you were told was free.

I have learnt the hard way, that this happens more often than not -- so now I am a bit smarter and go all the way down to the bottom of the page and check out whether or not the opportunity really is free or not.

Luckily, there are some honest sites out there, and I have joined one of them. It was free to join, gives me free internet training and support, free websites and free gateways. The amount of free knowledge that is imparted through this site is mind-boggling - if I were to obtain that knowledge through a University I would have to pay in the thousands of dollars.

My affiliate business is linked up with a many global stores selling their wares collectively through one main site, so I don't even have to have my own inventory but I can sell all that is already available through the main site as well as find new stores that want to sell through this same medium. When computers were created, the main thought was that it was a fad that would pass. But computers are here to stay and so is the internet. So what are the options open to us to create online income today.

There are many ways of creating that income on the net, however I will only mention 3 major ways today.

1. Blogging - A lot of us have a writer at heart, but never know how or where to send our articles. Well, now, look no further - the internet is here and there are oodles of places where one can post their blogs. Some of them even help in creating that online income that I am talking about. One can sell advertising, products, do product reviews among other things.

2. Affiliate Marketing has become a rage on the internet these days. The companyies put in all the websites and products, services, etc. and as an affiliate marketer you create a network of affiliates who help sell these products and get a commission for doing so. If treated as a business, this kind of marketing can be quite lucrative and exciting to create.

3. Last, but not least you can look for internet related jobs - surveys, research, freelance writing, data entry, web installation and designing,etc.
